Walking Meditation
I find this is a great one to choose if I have a lot on my mind and I’m too distracted to just sit and breathe. It’s a meditation in action. The great thing about it is you can do this just about anywhere. You can use it between meetings, walking from your car to the grocery store or, on a brief stroll after you come home from work.
You might begin the meditation with a question you’d like to resolve. Ask an open-ended question such as “What’s the best way to proceed regarding my career?” Or you could simply have a subject to ponder, such as “Insight about my relationship.” Or more generally, “I’m open to Divine guidance.”
Walk slowly and with awareness. Have no thought of “getting somewhere” other than right where you are, here and now, for ten minutes or so. While you’re walking, be aware of your surroundings, what you’re thinking, what you’re feeling. Take note of any sights, sounds or smells. When you find your mind wandering, simply bring it back to your walk and the present moment.
