Strengthening Your Intuition
I just read Perry Gruber’s blog entitled “When it speaks, listen and you’ll change the world.”
I like what he says about practicing intuition. “Perfect practice is what allows one to access this voice on a constant basis. I find my own connection strengthening the more I practice.”
Like Perry, I believe that intuition is a skill. And, like any other skill, the more you use it the better you get at it. Intuition can be a bit frustrating though. Exactly how do you practice other than listening? How do you know it’s your intuition speaking?
I’ve taught intuition development classes for twenty-plus years. In each class I ask people how they know they’re receiving a “yes” from their intuition. Here are some of the responses:
- “I feel at peace.”
- “I hear an inner voice. It sounds different than the usual chatter that goes on in my mind.”
- “I feel energized when I think of a decision.”
- “It’s a thought that stays with me. If it doesn’t go away I know it’s intuition.”
- “I have a dream that shows me the right direction.”
- “An answer presents itself and it simply feels right.”
- “A sense of calm comes over me, even if I’m making a difficult decision.”
- “I keep feeing nudged to make a certain decision. If I ignore it, the nudge becomes a shove!”
- “If I feel delighted, breezy, enlightened, invigorated, vibrant, elated, joyful, beautiful, then it is a good indication that I am doing what IS right for me.
- “I get a tingling down my arms or up my spine.”
- “I close my eyes, think of my decision, and receive a symbolic picture.”
- “An idea pops into my mind that wasn’t there moments ago.”
- “When I close my eyes, the right answer seems to have a glow to it.
- “It’s like my inner GPS. It leads me in the right direction. If I don’t pay attention, I can almost hear it say ‘recalculating.’”
You can see from the above list that there are a myriad ways to receive a “yes” response. You probably have a few that are unique to you. As you begin to understand the language of your intuition, you’ll find comfort in its wisdom.
